“There was a game? I was too busy enjoying Beecroft’s Gala Day…wine, biscuits and cheese…”
Sunday 1 July, the sun shone for our annual Back to Beecroft Day. A day of celebration of community football, especially our Women’s teams at Beecroft. The morning kicked off with the U14/2s displaying some very adept football skills and a pretty impressive 4-0 win over North Epping. The U16/1s as always provided the crowd with some fantastic football and came away with a 1-1 draw as did the O30/2s (or colloquially known as “The Mumbats”) with a 0-0 draw against Epping. The mighty AA4 unfortunately lost to Macquarie Dragons but to finish the day, our AA3 pulled off an impressive 4-1 win over Roselea.
This year we had a number of different sponsors and events which drew in the crowds. A particular crowd pleaser for the kids were the Jumping Castle and the Cupcakes – both these were proudly sponsored by Priceline Pharmacy of Beecroft Place. Our BBQ as always did a roaring trade and the sausage sizzle was kindly sponsored by Belle Property.
Our senior teams, spectators and visitors enjoyed the Wine Tasting kindly provided by BWS at Beecroft.
A new addition to our sponsors this year was ActiveSpine Physiotherapy. A much appreciated massage table was set up for those weary and sore at the end of their game.
Thanks to the parents and players who contributed their time at the BBQ and canteen and joined in the fun of the day.
Three cheers to Caroline (Women’s delegate) and the Mumbats who made the day such a special and successful one .
